Just roll with it Cinnamon Buns
These are the perfect soft, chewy, sweet and satisfying cinnamon rolls made with whole wheat flour, raisins and walnuts, and of course cinnamon sugar!
1 cup warm (not hot) milk
1 tablespoon instant yeast
2 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt
3 tablespoons soft margarine or butter
2 small eggs
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 cup white flour
Filling:¼ cup margarine of butter, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 2 tablespoons cinnamon, 1/2 cup raisins, 1/4 cup walnuts
Using a bowl and wooden spoon, combine the warm milk, yeast, sugar, salt, butter and mix.
Slowly add in flour, starting with half, then add up to the full 3 cups until the dough is not sticky, dough should be soft and sticky but pull away from the side of bowl.
Transfer dough to a large lightly greased mixing bowl, cover, and let rise for 1 hour.
Roll dough out to a 12x18 inch rectangle.
Brush the dough with the ¼ cup melted butter from the filling
Sprinkle brown sugar and cinnamon mixture over buttered dough.
Scatter with nuts and raisins
Roll up tightly lengthwise to make one long roll.
With a sharp knife, cut dough into 12 (one inch) slices .
Place slices into parchment lined 9 x 13 baking dish.
Cover and let rise for about 45 minutes.
Preheat oven to 325 degrees.Bake rolls for 20-30 minutes or till brown. (Time will depend on how hot and even your oven bakes.)
