Clean Pumpkin Spice Latte
Do-it-yourself Pumpkin Spice Latte, because you don't have to be basic to enjoy this fall favorite drink. This DIY PSL is cleaned up to have WAYYYY less fat, less sugar, but still has a rich creamy topping that isn't whipped cream! Watch the video or read the recipe!
Strong brewed coffee (enough for 2 cups) or 2 shots of espresso
1/4 pure pumpkin (not pie filling!)
1 tbsp pumpkin spice flavored honey (or maple syrup)
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp pumpkin pie spice
1/2 cup milk of choice + additional 1/4 cup milk (for topping)
milk frother if you have--highly recommend this!
In a small sauce pan heat 1/2 cup milk with pumpkin, honey, spices and vanilla, stirring constantly until slightly bubbling
In a separate bowl, heat the additional 1/4 cup milk in the microwave, once heated use a milk frother to create a light, airy milk foam
Split the pumpkin mixture evenly among 2 mugs, and fill with coffee
Carefully spoon the milk froth foam onto each latte forming the "whipped topping" and sprinkle with an extra dash of pumpkin pie spice
